November weekend watercolor workshop at
le Meraviglie in Brooklyn, New York
I am very happy to announce a pop-up weekend watercolor workshop in Brooklyn, New York. My dear friend and former model Piera Bonerba has opened a beautiful new space at 67 Atlantic Avenue where we will spend two full days of watercolor, painting from the live model in the morning and from local fruits and vegetables in the afternoon. There will be a private projection of my not yet released award-winning short documentary film Roman Studio for the participants of the workshop who would like to see it.

Le Meraviglie was founded by Italian artist and educator Piera Bonerba, and provides innovative arts-enrichment programming in its first location at 108 Montague Street for children. Due to the great success of Montague Street, Piera has opened an exciting new teaching location in Brooklyn Heights, at 67 Atlantic Avenue, that she hopes will become a point of encounter for local creatives.

Mornings from 10:00-1:00 participants will explore painting the live figure model using monochromatic watercolor in order to quickly capture light and form. Poses will range from 30 seconds to 20 minutes. There will be a one-hour break for lunch. From 2:00-5:00 we will plunge into painting seasonal fruits and vegetables, exploring the finer details of nature through light, shadow, color and form to make simple essential colorful still lifes.
All skill levels, from beginner to advanced, are welcome. Attention will be focused on mark making, brush control, wetness, edges. Individual instruction will be given to each participant.
My award-winning short documentary film, Roman Studio, will be projected privately at the end of Saturday's session for the participants of the workshop who would like to stay and see it. The Italian dialogue in the film is subtitled.
